About The Project

Overview

Nonprofit Connect's institutes, executive forums, and professional development programs provide nonprofit leaders across Kansas and Missouri with access to training, peer learning, and industry expertise throughout the year.

As Marketing & Communications Manager, I owned end-to-end content strategy for more than 25 annual programs, developing the narratives, communications, and participant experiences that supported audiences before, during, and after each event.

The Challenge

Each program served a different audience, topic, and learning objective, yet participants needed a consistent and engaging experience regardless of where or how they entered the ecosystem.

The challenge was to give 25 different programs, each with its own audience and objective, a quality bar that never moved, so no nonprofit leader could tell which event was the flagship and which was the smaller workshop.

My Role

I led content strategy and participant communications across Nonprofit Connect's portfolio of institutes, executive forums, and professional development programs, building the communication systems, audience journeys, and supporting content behind more than 25 annual learning experiences.

Supporting Learning at Scale

Rather than treating each event as an isolated experience, I developed systems that connected programs across the broader Nonprofit Connect ecosystem.

Expertise Into Accessible Content

I worked with speakers and subject matter experts to turn complex topics into clear, audience-centered content that nonprofit professionals at any experience level could understand and apply.

One System for Every Program

I built repeatable communication structures, messaging frameworks, and participant resources that streamlined execution across 25+ programs to maintain quality attendee experiences time over time.

Extending Event Value

I designed communications that reinforced learning beyond the event itself through follow-up resources, recap content, and continued engagement opportunities.

Marketing Content for Understanding

Supported communications and content strategy for more than 25 annual institutes, executive forums, workshops, and professional development programs serving nonprofit leaders across Kansas and Missouri.

The systems built for these programs created consistency across the participant experience, strengthened speaker support, and gave the organization a way to deliver high-quality educational programming all year without rebuilding the approach each time.

Events are only as effective as the content they deliver.

This work reinforced something I believe about event communications: they are not just promotional tools, they are part of the learning experience itself. By developing content systems, participant journeys, and speaker support resources, I helped create environments where people could access information, engage with new ideas, and leave with a clearer understanding of how to apply what they learned.
